This past week, Martin Sullivan, Senior Management Consultant, presented Project Management 101 to a standing-room only group of over 800 financial
managers at the 2015 Government Financial Officer’s Association (GFOA)
annual conference in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. The
Project Management Institute (PMI) recommended Line of Sight to GFOA
based on our regular contributions to PMI conferences and expertise in bringing project management techniques to a wide range of audiences and organizations.
Though traditionally used in construction projects and large technology
deployments, Martin presented basic PMI project principles as tools that can
be applied outside those traditional arenas. Properly employed, project management techniques can be just as helpful in managing the budget process, year-end close, and other “projects” within the finance office. He focused on showing how PM principles can be applied in real world situations, giving conference attendees actionable advice for when they returned to the home office.
